Job description:

Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience

• A Tertiary Qualification in Extractive Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or related field
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in technical and/or operational roles of process operations in large, complex metallurgical process operations within a multinational mining company
• Experience required in base metal crushing/milling & flotation circuits
• Direct experience in Control Room operations and plant control philosophies
• Specific exposure to Cu, Mo, Au flowsheets
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Senior Supervisory or Management role
• Exposure to minerals processing plant design and or metallurgical optimisation
• Fluency in English required A commitment to Spanish language communication is highly regarded
• Excellent leadership, motivational, and interpersonal skills
• Excellent understanding and knowledge of technical, production, and maintenance strategies for large-scale, continuous operating processing plants
• Excellent cognitive and analytical skills with an understanding of complex metallurgical information, process improvement, mining processes, and control strategies
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and able to assemble data and provide clear and accurate operational performance reports in both an upward and downward direction
• Proven results facilitating continuous improvement activity

Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables

• Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama
• The role has the responsibility to support optimise and ensure the effective centralised communication between Process Plant Mine Port and TMF operations to improve the capability and production compliance of all departments
• The role has accountability for the Process Plant Control Room functional accountability for Control Room personnel performance and optimisation of Process Plant macro performance
• Maintain HSE standards and contribute to strict compliance within the process plant Manage the HSE system in the Process plant
• Maintain high standard of control room housekeeping
• Develop and coordinate the Process Plant’s shift macro operating systems to maximise production and minimise costs while ensuring operational sustainability
• JOB DESCRIPTION SUPERINTENDENT SHIFT OPERATION
• Drive support and hold to account the Shift Coordinators for the relentless pursuit of optimized copper molybdenum and gold production
• Monitor optimise and report on macro Process Plant performance indicators plant activities and operational shortfalls
• Implement benchmark management systems and metrics within the Control Room
• Ensure the Control Room team operates the plant expert control system and critical in-line instrumentation maintaining high utilisation for real time performance optimisation
• Ensure the Control Room team accurately and thoroughly accounts for a production loss event and equipment failure systems
• Ensure strong real time interaction with Mining Operations and Grade Control on ore feed rate and quality for plant optimisation
• Ensure the proper diagnosis of plant defects by the Plant Controllers and the implementation of corrective measures
• Work closely with peer Mining Processing Technical and Maintenance TMF and Power Plant leaders to coordinate and prioritise activities to optimise the overall output of the plant
• Coordinate the Processing aspects and integrated stoppages of major plant shutdowns across the different production Sections
• Support maintenance in the delivery of their tasks and equipment reliability
• Create a culture of open communication between mining and process plant leadership teams to ensure the achievement of business production and safety expectations
• Provide real time feedback to Mine operations and mine technical leadership of crushing restrictions Strive to improve the mining teams understanding of Process Plant operational limitations and areas for optimisation
• Provide real time feedback to Process Operations and Technical teams of mine restrictions limitations and areas for optimisation Strive to improve Process Operations knowledge of mining processes systems and limitations
• Evaluate daily weekly circuits availability and provide feedback and direction on limitations provide options to mitigate potential loss scenarios through planned and unplanned maintenance
• Liaise with departmental managers across Mining and Process Plant to escalate any developing or immediately occurring issues in ore presentation and crushing that may adversely affect either or both departments
• Monthly the Superintendent will be expected to report a summary of the months production achievements and shortfalls Clearly communicate all improvements and solutions to issues encountered in the month within the area of responsibility
• Implement FQM Way culture across the Crushing team and integrate the Load and Haul department into that culture Smarter Bolder Driven Together to develop a consolidated team approach to achieving business expectations
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager
