BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
Latin America is one of the regions most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020-
2021 and the food and fuel crisis of 2022, resulting in the highest relative increase in the number of people in severe food insecurity as compared to other regions of the world. These crises have not only exacerbated pre-existing socio-economic inequalities, hampering access to food and nutrition and affecting the basic livelihoods of millions of people in the region but is also outpacing the capacity of governments, which are increasingly calling upon WFP Country Offices to complement their humanitarian and development efforts.
Furthermore, Latin America and the Caribbean region is home to some of the countries most vulnerable to climatic events such as by hurricanes, flooding, droughts. Countries in this region are also increasingly facing socio-economic and political turmoil, increased levels of violence as well as migratory crisis which also negatively affects the food security status of the most vulnerable populations. WFP is increasingly called upon to support national authorities and humanitarian partners in the framework of emergency responses caused by such events.
The WFP Regional Bureau in Panama is responsible for positioning WFP strategically in this region and providing support to its 13 Country Offices at the policy and operational level. The Regional Bureau has an important role to play in terms of facilitating information flow and decision making amongst WFP’s main internal stakeholders (Management, HQ and RB technical units, Country Offices, for example), while producing information for external audiences in positioning and advocacy efforts.
The Regional Director’s Front Office manages the agenda and content of Senior Management meetings, events, and high-level external engagements, requiring regular coordination with functional units and Country Offices. The Front Office requires additional support in order to ensure the continuous, systematized and effective management of information flows, preparation of visual aids, and information coordination between Senior Management and functional units within RBP (in particular the Programme and partnerships units) as well as country offices in the field.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Special Assistant to the Regional Director RBP, and working closely with sub-units in Management (in particular the EPR team), the Programme Unit (in particular the Reporting team), and TEC, the Consultant will assume the following responsibilities:

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: Advanced university degree in Political Science, Economics, Statistics, Library Sciences, Information Management, Social Sciences or other relevant fields, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of postgraduate professional experience, including field experience, and coordination experience in information management.
Knowledge
& Skills: • Ability to liaise, follow-up on and coordinate with a wide range of people/stakeholders at all levels and across different cultures and to act with credibility and diplomacy (collaborative spirit and reliable team player)
Languages: Fluency (level C) in English and Spanish languages is required.
